Event Details

Join us for a special professional development day at Symphony Hall with Dr. Anthony Leach, Associate Professor of Music and Music Education at Penn State University.

Participants and presenters will tackle the question "Why teach African American Spirituals?" through discussions, hands-on workshops and live performance. 

Sessions will explore connections between music, history, humanities, literacy and library resources (PDPs available).
 
The day will close with a concert featuring the New England Spiritual Ensemble, and students from the Boston Arts Academy Spirituals Ensemble.
